Phil Kuban has been involved with the franchising industry for twenty years and has a very diversified background, having been both a franchisee and a franchisor. Based on his experiences, Phil founded FranMax in 1987, a brokerage and consulting company developing such franchises in the Southeast as Mail Boxes, Etc., Moto Photo and Sylvan Learning Centers, to name a few.
Collectively, he has helped over five hundred investors start a franchised business, the majority being first-time buyers. Phil specializes in franchise resales, helping owners value and sell their existing businesses and building value for the franchise system in the area.
Phil started his career with 3M Company and held various sales and marketing positions. He first became exposed to franchising while working at 3M, building a distribution network of Energy Control Centers. He recognized early on that franchising is the best choice for most people seeking to own their own business. Being in business for yourself but not by yourself is as true now as it was then.
Phil graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a BS degree in marketing. He lives in greater Atlanta with his wife Susan, who is a professional portrait painter. His daughter Leslie is his partner in his FranNet business and his son Scott attends Kennesaw State University.
Julie is a 30 year veteran of the financial services industry and has seen a lot of change. Most of her career was spent with Lehman Brothers serving institutional clients who managed billion dollar fixed income portfolios; she also managed multi-asset class investment portfolios for high net worth individuals at JP Morgan. Leaving the corporate world behind, Julie began researching franchise businesses with her own FranNet coach which led to her FranNet opportunity.
According to Julie, “I see so much opportunity for individuals in franchising. A business is a path to escape the corporate roller coaster, create flexibility, freedom and independence. A franchise business can also be an investment alternative, a vehicle to create an income producing asset which can be difficult to find during a time of very low interest rates, extreme market volatility and uncertainty.”
Julie is passionate about knowing and understanding her clients. She enjoys helping individuals embrace and manage change, and is excited about her association with FranNet, the best franchise coaching organization in the industry.
Julie is a graduate of Northwestern University and has been an Atlanta resident since 1984. She lives with her husband in Sandy Springs and has two grown children that live in the Atlanta area. In her free time, she enjoys all outdoor activities, is an avid reader, volunteers with Partners for Literacy at Woodland Elementary School and is a volunteer career coach in DUMC’s Crossroads Ministry.
