Storytelling: Using Social Media to Weave Your Unique Tale (and Build Your Brand!)
Storytelling has been with us since the dawn of man. From fireside tales of ancient cultures to written accounts of loss, living and love, stories have been shared in every culture as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation and more.
Today, stories are being told in the channels of social media. Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and more allow the average person, small business, and big brands to build connection and trust with others.
Debra Smouse is a life coach, writer, and Tarnished Southern Belle now living in Centerville.
She’s been writing on the web since the fall of 2000, when she began her first weblog. She been the Editor in Chief of the online literary/arts magazine All Things Girl since 2005. She builds connection with friends (and clients) thanks to Instagrammed cups of coffee, blogs about creating a life you love, Tweets about love, and Facebook posts about food and gratitude.
If you’re online in any way around your business, the key to creating resonance is through the art of storytelling. Having a product without meaning is about selling a commodity, but taking a product and adding meaning allows you to create an authentic brand that wants people desire to know more about the person behind the product.
You get to choose the story you want to tell. And weaving the story with the power of social media creates trust and allows people to create a connection with you and love your brand (and your products) for the long run.
She’ll be talking about ways you can use blogging (and guest blogs) to build your platform and strengthen your brand by weaving your unique tale through the channels of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and more.
What story do you want to tell?
