Event Details

Williamsburg native Dylan Pritchett will relate stories told and heard in the African-American community during the past century in a free program at the Williamsburg Library Theatre, 515 Scotland St., on Thursday, July 8 at 7:30 p.m.  The stories will include one by noted African-American writer Paul Laurence Dunbar, stories from the Civil Rights era and others.

The program is being offered free of charge as part of the library’s Centennial Celebration Series, made possible by Lee and Betty Ann Griffin, marking 100 years of public library service in Williamsburg.  No tickets or reservations are required and doors will open at 7 p.m.  For more information, call the library at (757) 259-4070 or visit www.wrl.org.

Dylan Pritchett has been a full time storyteller for 20 years, taking his African and African-American folktales to hundreds of locations throughout the country. Dylan's work extends beyond the classroom to museums, arts centers, historic sites, television and recordings. Drawing on his experience in historical research, Dylan presents real-life characters from our Nation's past.
