Event Details

Stories of the World is the largest youth participation project ever carried out by museums. It involves over 60 museums across the country, working with over 2000 “young curators” to explore their collections and develop exciting exhibitions and events for summer 2012.

Stories of the World museums have developed new ways of working. Young people are not only involved at the heart of museum processes such as interpretation and exhibition development, but also are given influence in decision making.

This conference will showcase the extraordinary change taking place across the museums sector as a result of Stories of the World, and will kick-start the discussion on what next? How can the legacy of Stories of the World be sustained after 2012.

The conference includes case studies from participating museums, a panel discussion led by the Stories of the World national youth steering group, creative workshops and networking sessions.

The conference will be summed up by the young poet James McMillan, and throughout the day there will be opportunities to add your thoughts to our film of talking heads.
