Stories in HARMONY - 2012 NONDC Annual Meeting
Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM (PDT)
More than 15 years ago, a coalition of non-profit, private and public community-based organizations came together to re-energize the social, physical and economic landscapes of the Crescent City. While its mission and its work have evolved, the New Orleans Neighborhood Development Collaborative’s (NONDC) commitment to investing in; building for; engaging with and empowering neighborhood residents has not wavered.
On Tuesday, May 22, 2012, we will celebrate an exciting time in the life of our organization with Stories in Harmony, our annual meeting and organizational re-brand unveiling. We will reflect on our progress over the past year and look forward with anticipation on this new chapter in our history.
We cannot look back on our past or forward to our future without honoring those who worked tirelessly in the early years to establish our work’s foundation. To that end, we will pay special tribute to founding and former members of the NONDC Board of Directors during this event, including:
- Lauren Anderson, Neighborhood Housing Services of New Orleans
- Jinx C. Broussard, The Manship School of Communications, LSU
- Joan Coulter, The Reily Companies
- Kathy Laborde, Gulf Coast Housing Partnership
- Ellen Lee, Greater New Orleans Foundation
- Diana M. Lewis
- Mtumishi St. Julien, Finance Authority of New Orleans
- Glenis M. Scott, Sr., Youth Empowerment Project
- Vincent Sylvain, Sylvain Solutions
- Marion Taylor, First Evangelist Housing and Community Development
- Oliver Thomas, Jr.
- Gary E. Williams, Hope Community Credit Union, and others.
The event will also highlight the cultural contributions and historic significance of Central City with the unveiling of a signature work by noted artist Shakor and through performances by Ashé's Sistahs Making a Change and the Golden Voices Community Choir of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
Opening reception will feature music by the Miles Berry Quintet of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served. Open bar will serve beer and wine.
When & Where
New Orleans Neighborhood Development Collaborative
The New Orleans Neighborhood Development Collaborative (NONDC) is a non-profit community organizing, community planning and development organization focused on revitalizing the Central City neighborhood. Central to our work is our mission to make quality housing affordable. We accomplish this by leveraging community partnerships and private and public funding options. We believe by building capacity for homeownership among low-income families in Central City, we are stimulating community wealth-building and empowerment.
