A free career development conference for dancers

 

Stepping Into Hope & Change - Chicago

 

Description: Designed to address the unique secondary and post-performance career needs of dancers in Chicago. Join us for a thorough exploration of the programs and services of Career Transition For Dancers. Hear from transitioned dancers and a Keynote Speaker about how the organization can help all dancers of all genres inside and outside of the dance field. Lastly, don’t miss a workshop to clarify your personal mission statement to succeed in your next interview and present yourself professionally online and in person. Although we have a full day of offerings, you may come and go based upon your availability. 

 

Eligibility: All dancers – whether they are still dancing, staying in the dance field, preparing for a transition, already transitioned, exploring other industries, next steps and career paths – are invited to attend. You do not need to be a Career Transition For Dancers client or union member to attend.

11:30am Check-in

12:00pm-2:15pm – Welcome to Career Transition For Dancers and Keynote Speaker                             Learn the successful career counseling concepts of the organization while exploring your interests and skills that are a "good fit" for your career aspirations in an interactive format. Keynote Speaker from the chicago dance community - Sherry Zunker, Creator & Founder of BeMoved(R) -a dance fitness experience

2:15pm-3:00pm – Complimentary light refreshments

3:00pm-3:15pm – Dancer-client testimonial Sara Schumann 

3:30pm-4:45pm – Identify and communicate your personal mission statement

Building on the morning session, further clarify your values and goals to create a personal mission statement. Practice using this tool as a "30-second sound bite" for networking or interviewing. Learn how to use it to enhance your resume and website content.


5:00-6:30pm – Discovering new roles for dancers

Hear from dancers who have stayed in the performing arts field or have transitioned into new fields. Dancers will have a chance to interact with panelists and ask them questions about their transition experience.
