"Step in the Name of Love": 2013 Recovery Walk/Run

In recognition of National Alcohol and Drug Recovery Month, The Orange County Drug Free Coalition and the Multi-Cultural Addictions Network, Inc. are hosting its Annual "Step in the Name of Love" Recovery Walk/Run on September 14, 2013 from 7:30am. The event is a 3K Walk and a 5K Run around beautiful Barnett Park Recreation Pavillon #4 (see map on this webpage). We encourage online registration, but registration will be allowed on the day of the event at 7:00am with runners starting at 7:30am and walkers at 8:00am.
In addition to the Walk/Run, you will enjoy family Activities, food (free), entertainment and information from many community health and social service organizations. "Step in the Name of Love" is held in celebration of individuals, families and friends who have survived and actively recovered from alcohol and drug addiction.
National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month celebrates a national initiative that has been promoted by SAMHSA, the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration over the past 21 years. The purpose of National Recovery Month is to raise awareness about drug and alcohol addictions and to honor the successes of people in recovery around the globe.

The Orange County Drug Free Coalition is an Orange County governmental agency that works in collaboration with community members and agencies to prevent and reduce the use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs among our youth and adults through prevention, education, enforcement and treatment.
