STC Puget Sound Competition
The Puget Sound Chapter is pleased in announcing the start of this year’s annual competition. The yearly competition provides technical communicators who submit entries with an opportunity to win an award and gain recognition in the field. Entry submitters also receive valuable feedback from their peers who are active practitioners in the field.
The competition has a category suitable for nearly every kind of content imaginable whether it is a web site, a tutorial, online help, a brochure, a book, a poster, or a newsletter. All that you need to do to apply is to determine which of the four category applies and then follow the simple steps outlined on the “How to Enter” (http://www.stc-psc.org/wp/competition/how-to-enter/) webpage. The current entry categories are informational materials, instructional materials, promotional materials, and user support materials. The deadline for applying this year is Friday October 12, 2012.
The yearly competition also provides volunteer opportunities—whether it means serving as a judge or judging manager, or helping set up the showcase for winning entries. Judging is an especially rewarding opportunity in that it allows you to evaluate some of the best work in the Puget Sound Region. It gives you a chance to see the latest innovations in technical communications as well as interact with judges from major companies in the Puget Sound area.
The official end of the yearly competition comes on January 15, 2013, the evening of the Competition Showcase event. While the evening is a tribute to all winners, the stars of the show are the Best of Show entries. Those entries represent truly the best of the best. We hope you have time to join us this year at the Showcase!
