Startup Grind returns this month to bring you an exciting evening to learn more about successful entrepreneurship, and making new startup friends! On 19th December, we will be hosting John Kim, Managing Director of Amasia Associates. You should come! Here are why:

John Johan Kim


John Kim’s career has taken him across a diverse range of operating and investing environments from early stage startups to Fortune 500 companies. He started as an entrepreneur, founding music internet and e-consulting businesses before joining pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co as a System Specialist. John left Merck to start his third business, a Delaware incorporated rock band called The Ally. As lead singer and electric violinist, John toured across America and recorded with top artists in Korea and the US. He received a platinum record for his album contribution with Grammy award winner Brandy.
 

More recently John has held senior trading and investment positions at Korean National Investments, Goldman Sachs and Mercuria Energy Group before co-founding venture capital firm Amasia Associates where he serves as Managing Partner. John is an award winning public speaker, published author and regular television contributor. He is a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations and sits on the board of the Choson Exchange, a non-profit focused on teaching North Koreans about economics, business and law. John attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the School of Engineering.
