Startup Weekend Toronto EDU is no talk, all action. In just 54 hours teams will come together to create startups from scratch and learn about entrepreneurship in a hands-on and meaningful way. We are inviting 100 participants - developers, designers, business experts, educators and students - to tackle challenges faced by those in the education space. We are also providing tickets to 10 high school students hoping to learn more about entrepreneurship.
Startup Weekend Toronto EDU takes place from August 9-11, 2013 at TWG.
About Startup Weekend
Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
Startup Weekends take place in countries all around the world supported by a global network of passionate leaders and entrepreneurs on a mission to inspire, educate, and empower individuals, teams and communities.
About Startup Weekend EDU
Startup Weekend EDU is an education-focussed Startup Weekend. It’s almost exactly like a traditional Startup Weekend, but with a few tweaks. All of the pitches on Friday and companies demoed on Sunday will be designed to solve problems in the education space, broadly defined–not restricted to K-12 or other “formal” education. EDU events add crucial participant categories: educator and student. Who better to speak about problems in education than teachers, administrators and students? Watch the Startup Weekend EDU trailer
