FAQs

What is Startup Weekend again?

Startup Weekend EDU is a global event coming to Phoenix for the first time. This 52-hour event brings together educators, developers, designers, product managers, marketers, and startup enthusiasts to share ideas, form teams, build products or services, and launch potential startups! Education leaders will be available to coach teams and share their networks. We hope to make an impact on the conversation of how learners can be educated by ACTION.

Why does this cost money?

Startup Weekend is a non-profit organization and this is a non-profit event. Your ticket costs cover 7 meals, snacks, all the caffeine you can intake, and any proceeds will go toward funding the next Educelerate Meetup in the Valley. The ticket price also helps hold people accountable to attend and allows the serious edupeneurs to benefit.

I'm a student and can't afford to attend.

Students get a great discount. Email us at phoenixedu@startupweekend.org with your .edu email address to get the code.

I'm interested in the event but am not interested in participating in a team.

You should buy a DEMO DAY (Final presentations) ticket. You'll be invited to see the final demos, mingle with the coaches and network, as well as join everyone for dinner. This ticket will only allow you to attend the Sunday night demos, as we don't want to people to distract the teams before the final pitches.

Can I participate as a volunteer?

YES! We need volunteers, especially if you have a photography, videography, or guest services background. Also, we need people to pick up food and be encouraging to the teams.

Thanks! If you have any other questions, you can reach us at phoenixedu@startupweekend.org! See below for rules and policies.

Refund Policy:  No refunds will be granted within 7 days of the event if food and drink have already been ordered. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

About Startup Weekend EDU: Startup Weekend EDU events are 54-hour events designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs.  Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation, Startup Weekend EDU events culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations.  Participants create working  education startups during the event and are able to collaborate with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. All teams hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurials. The weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education.  Whether you are looking for feedback on a idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Startup Weekends are the perfect environment in which to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup.
