Every week, tens of thousands of people pledge millions of dollars to projects from the worlds of music, film, art, technology, design, games, fashion, food, publishing, and other creative fields on Kickstarter. Since its launch on April 28th, 2009, more than one and a quarter million people have pledged $130 million to projects by creators who always maintain full ownership and complete creative control of their work.
Do you want to know the secrets of conducting successful Kickstarter fundraising campaigns? Would you like to use Kickstarter or any other microfinance platforms to take away your financial concerns? If so, we’ve got a solution for you!
Startup Roundtable 14 invites five successful Kickstarter campaign owners to share their stories on how to be successful at raising money on Kickstarter (or any similar platform for that matter).

Sponsor - CPX Interactive
Digital advertising company CPX Interactive has developed an incubator initiative to support the advertising technology space. CPX will review start-ups in the sector that are in need of early funding and overhead support and infuse the selected companies with capital and resources to help clear typical early stage hurdles, including: core employee salaries, sales and marketing efforts, ad serving execution, creative development, technology needs and more..
“ The CPX Incubator initiative was born out of our bootstrapped company’s entrepreneurial DNA. There are a lot of exciting early-stage digital media projects being developed right now and we feel it’s our responsibility and privilege to help advance the industry by uncovering and supporting start-ups that can be the future of this sector,” said Mike Seiman, CEO and founder of CPX Interactive. “Many brilliant entrepreneurs in need of initial funding and support don’t require – or want – the involvement and oversight of typical VCs. If we can help by providing the limited capital and overhead they need and offering our unique expertise along the way, then we think there are significant synergies to explore”.
CPX will consider business plans primarily focused on advertising technology, with a specific eye toward those that could most benefit from a close relationship with CPX’s global distribution engine. Initial conversations between CPX and selected entrepreneurs will address specifics such as ownership percentages of any newly formed limited liability corporations (LLC), salaries for staff and allocation of CPX resources.

Stefan Loble has raised 62K in 18 days with his Pants by Bluff Works campaign.
He is a software product manager who wanted to exercise his creative side, and began a two-year quest to make a pair of men's pants that are truly wrinkle-free. His company, Bluff Works, was founded on this first product: pants that can be worn for multiple days without ironing or washing, and look great whether you're biking to work, jammed into an airline seat, or just really busy.
Bluff Works was launched on Kickstarter and raised $62,000 in 18 days. His campaign closes June 27th. Stefan still has his software job at Invision Inc, a provider of advertising sales and traffic systems for television, digital, and out-of-home media.
Bill May has raised 90K for his The Limb.al campaign. He is an award winning product designer specializing in consumer electronics, housewares, and visualization. Working with companies and designers like Mozilla, Skiff, Todd Bracher, and Aza Raskin, his work has been featured in the New York Times, Huffington Post, Engadget, Gizmodo, and TechCrunch. His educational background lies in business at Washington and Lee university rather than an art school. He is currently a Product Designer for Lifetime Brands, working on brands like Mikasa and Savora.
The Limb.al iPhone and Android mount was launched on Kickstarter and raised close to $100,000 in 30 days despite the lack of any significant online press. With estimated pre-order delivery of Q3 2012, efforts now focus on distribution and retail sales.
Albert Chao is a designer that works at the intersection between art, architecture, and technology. Albert received a Dual Masters of Architecture and Fine Arts Degree from the University at Buffalo. He has designed and proposed objects and installations that map different relationships between the body and the surrounding environment. He is currently working on open source projects that involve the Internet of Things.
He especially loves to collaborate.
He is a co-founder of Pwnee Studios, along with long-time friend Jordan Fisher. He currently works full-time for Pwnee Studios as the Project Lead, as well as numerous other roles you would expect from a start-up. Cloudberry Kingdom is the first video game title being released by Pwnee, and has already been confirmed for online distribution through Steam, and Wii U. Deals with Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are currently in the works. Pwnee has been working on Cloudberry Kingdom for approximately 3 years, and intends to release the first platformer game that is randomly generated, providing an unlimited number of levels for a player to battle through.
Cloudberry Kingdom successfully collected $23,000 in 30 days.
Mariquel Waingarten (29) is co-founder of HICKIES and a seasoned entrepreneur (& a loving wife!). Prior to HICKIES, at 24 years old she founded and built the #1 boutique hotel in Argentina, Tailor Made Hotel (www.tailormadehotel.com), which was the top ranked hotel in www.tripadvisor.com for Argentina for 4 years. TMH was a unique hotel in its kind with ground breaking innovations in customer experience and viral marketing. Mariquel sold TMH in 2010 and has been interviewed by major marketing and hotels publications. Prior to founding TMH, she acted as a real estate consultant and implemented the first condo hotel operations in Argentina (www.hollywoodsuitesba.com.ar/). Obtained her undergraduate degree in business administration and economics from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires, and a masters degree in Universidad de San Andres. She has also a degree in Photography and is a passionate Graham Dancer.
