Startup Grind DC Hosts Revell Horsey (Founding President of HelloWallet)
Monday, January 7, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (EST)
Revell Horsey is the founding President of HelloWallet, an up and coming DC enterprise startup that focused on helping employees of Fortune 500 companies figure out how best to spend their paycheck and build wealth.
In 2010, Revell helped raised additional funds from AOL founder Steve Case, Jean Case, Grotech Ventures, and a group of private individuals. HelloWallet raised a Series B financing in January 2012 from new investors Morningstar and TDF.
Revell has spent 25 years helping companies and their leaders achieve their potential. As a corporate finance specialist on Wall Street, Revell was directly responsible for over $40 billion of equity capital financing by companies many of which have become household names (IHOP, Starbucks, Home Depot, Infosys, Amazon.com just to name a few). Involvement with many of these companies began when they were private and looking for advice on valuation and positioning for their introduction to the public markets. Revell combined his capital markets expertise with experience as a senior sell-side equity research analyst where he was responsible for developing and communicating investment themes for emerging growth companies in the hospitality industry.
During his investment banking career, Revell was provided the opportunity to lead the Equity Capital Markets division at Montgomery Securities and Bank of America Securities during the internet boom of the late 1990s. He subsequently was appointed Global Head of Technology Corporate and Investment Banking at Bank of America where he led a team of 150 professionals responsible for the firm’s investment banking and credit relationships in the technology sector.
After leaving Wall Street, Revell has focused his efforts on helping entrepreneurs develop and execute on ideas that typically challenge conventional wisdom. In most cases, a common theme that characterizes companies where he spends his time is the joint pursuit of purpose and profit. The ability to drive positive societal change without compromising the efficiencies of capitalism presents enormously fertile ground for company formation and the development of future leaders.
Revell's insight for 2013 will be valuable for any startup looking to raise capital. Will it be a good year or a bad year? Join us in finding out what the oracle will say about 2013 and what impact it may bring to the startup ecosystem.
