 Lori S. Hoberman is the chair of the Emerging Companies / Venture Capital practice. Her practice emphasizes venture capital, private equity, and general corporate counseling for emerging as well as later stage and publicly traded companies in a broad range of industries, including mobile, software, biotechnology and life sciences, social networking, consumer products, cleantech, Internet search and advertising, gaming and other media.

Ms. Hoberman also has significant experience in the structuring of, and tax planning for, domestic and offshore private equity funds. Prominent business and legal media outlets frequently interview Ms. Hoberman on issues relating to emerging companies and venture capital.

Ryan is a Principal at Basset Investment Group and Modern Holdings, a VC firm that focuses on consumer-facing businesses. His investments include Boxed, Zoom, Le Tote, Bloglovin’, Button, Attune, and Platejoy.

Previously, Ryan was a consultant at Flo Thinkery, a strategy consulting firm that works directly with early-stage startups on product, brand, design, and go-to market strategy.  While at Flo, Ryan worked closely with Made in Network (MCN) and Blue Chair Bay. Prior to Flo, Ryan ran Business Development for a business unit at Ingram Industries.

Ryan is a mentor at Venture for America and iMentor in New York City and previously served on the board of the Phoenix Club.
Ryan received an Engineering degree from Middle Tennessee University and an MBA from Vanderbilt University where he graduated with honors.

Andrew is recovering consultant turned serial entrepreneur, startup mentor and angel investor.  He is the Managing Director for DreamIt Ventures’ New York program.  Andrew is also a contributing writer to AlleyWatch.com, a leading destination for startup news in New York City.

Andrew began his career at Booz & Co consulting on strategy and operations for Fortune 100 clients.  After a brief stint at Kaplan helping transition their traditional classroom test prep services into online products, he then joined Bunk1.com as COO/Head of Product where he spent eight years building it from scratch to the leading provider of web services to the summer camp industry.  After being bought out of Bunk1 in 2008, Andrew managed a family office where he was responsible for both incubating new ventures and for managing over $50M of alternative assets including hedge, private equity, and venture capital funds as well as a number of direct investments in private companies.  Andrew was also the founding CEO of Layercake.com and has a keen appreciation for how hard it is to build a successful startup, even under the best of circumstances.

Among his other investments, Andrew was an early investor in Elliot’s company, HxTechnologies, and brought his angel group in as well.

Andrew received his MBA in Operations & Marketing from Chicago Booth (Beta Gamma Sigma) and a BA in Economics & Political Science from Johns Hopkins University (Phi Beta Kappa).  He speaks Hebrew fluently as well as some Spanish, French & Japanese and is working on JavaScript.  He currently lives on the Upper West Side with his wife and 3 daughters.

David is an entrepreneur and Angel investor. David is currently co-founder and Vice President of Business Development for ProSeeder Technologies, an enterprise funding platform enabling financial firms to collaborate, syndicate and execute private equity and debt transactions. Born in Ireland, David started his career in 1985 as a headhunter in London and after joining IMI Computing was transferred to the USA in 1990. 

In 1999, David cofounded Gorann, Inc, to invest in and work with early stage company’s and has a track record of 3 exits and 1 cash cow from 5 projects. David is also Chairman of Empire Messaging, Inc., a company he started in 1993 and ran until 2004, which provides enterprise messaging solutions to mid market companies. 

David is an active angel investor and is a Managing Director of Golden Seeds, an angel investor group in New York where he is co-head of the Golden Seeds institute, leading workshops for angel investors and entrepreneurs in the US and overseas. David sits on a number of boards, including StartOut, who creates great business leaders by fostering LGBT entrepreneurs. 

Richard is a Principal at Vapor LLC and Board of Directors at Noodle Education. He was the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Kaz, Inc., a manufacturer of consumer appliances, from 1997 until its sale in 2010. From 1987 to 1997, Richard served as President of Kaz, Inc. Under his leadership the company grew from $4 million in annual sales to $500 million. 

He was also a Director at The Princeton Review from its inception until 2012. Richard received a B.A. from Brown University.
