On the occasion of the 2013 Year of Italian Culture in the United States, Dress in Dreams by Elisabetta Cantone and Francesca Silvestri presents: Star Wigs La Mano Italiana Crea as a tribute to one of the most important Italian cultural and historical heritage expressions which is not well known neither abroad nor in Italy: the creation of a character for the film industry.
By creating wigs and theatrical costumes, such as those in Casanova, Gattopardo or Marie Antoinette, the Laboratory Rocchetti & Rocchetti and important Costume Maison, Farani, Peruzzi and The One, with their skilled artisans who work away from the spotlights represent the excellence of Italian Art.
The exhibition features original costumes and accesories of some of the best italian productions of the film industry such as Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoniette, Fellini’s Casanova, Visconti’s Angelica, Jane Fonda’s Barbarella, Nicole Kidman’s Moulin Rouge, and Elizabeth Taylor’s Cleopatra, among others.
Special Guest: Laura Delli Colli (journalist and writer, author of several cinema books) who will present the documentary “Handmade Cinema”. The first short movie with interviews to the main protagonists of the Italian film industry. Produced by Enourmous Film of Luchino Visconti di Modrone and directed by Guido Torlonia and Laura Delli Colli.
