Event Details

Come to the Rochester Maker's Space to learn the basic skills for making a stained glass project. The Tiffany Stained Glass method will be taught which involves using copper tape to surround small pieces of colored glass to then solder together. Projects may include, but are not limited to, small windows, sun catchers, garden ornaments, jewelry, boxes and terrariums.

Supply List

Supplies are not necessary for the first class, but students can purchase everything at Milestone Glass Creations (call for hours, (585) 288-7830) on Culver Road at the corner of Culver and University, Hobby Lobby, Dan’s Crafts and Things, or any on-line stained glass company.  Prices should be comparable.

Materials List (strongly recommended if planning to pursue Stained Glass as a hobby at home):
 
  1. Glass: $4-50 depending on scale of project (wait until after first class to purchase)
  2. Glass Cutter: Between $5-30 depending on quality, Jeanne, the owner of Milestone Stained Glass will let customers try out different cutters before purchasing
  3. Glass Pliers: $12
  4. Lead Free Solder, 1 lb: $20, may need more depending on project
  5. Flux: $4
  6. Flux Brush: 40 cents
  7. 7/32 Backed Copper Tape: $10
 
Optional: Soldering Irons, stands and glass grinders will be available at the Rochester Maker's Space to use during class time but you may want to purchase your own for home. Prices range between $20 and $60.
