SQL Saturday #120 Pre-Con with Denny Cherry - All about Data Storage!
Friday, March 23, 2012 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (PDT)
Does your boss not want to send you to SQL Pass, SQL Connections, or some other big SQL Server conference? Would you like to extend your SQL Saturday experience with a full-day of SQL Server knowledge from SQL Server MVP and SQL Server MCM Denny Cherry? What if I told you that you could get this training for less then the cost of parking at the airport for one of those fancy conferences, would you be interested?
If you answered yes to any of the question above the the SQL Saturday #120 Pre-Conference is where you want to be. For the low cost of only $99 you will not only get training from Denny Cherry, but we are also going to throw in your food for the day. This is the same pre-conference material that you would pay $500 plus the cost of the conference to get at something like SQL Pass or SQL Connections. And you only need to travel to Anaheim, no planes, luggage restrictions, hotel rooms, or TSA patdowns.
We have limited tickets for this event so be sure to get your tickets while they last!!
What will I learn - All about Data Storage
One of the biggest issues in database performance is around storage. It’s also one of the hardest places to troubleshoot performance issues because storage engineers and database administrators often do not speak the same language. In this session, we’ll be looking at storage from both the database and storage perspectives. We’ll be digging into LUNs, HBAs, the fabric, as well as the storage configuration.
As this is a pre-con session we'll be able to really dig into some advanced storage configurations. This includes RAID groups, multi-pathing software, proper redundant storage network design. We will also be digging into some advanced storage array backup techniques including taking storage level clones and snapshots. After going over these advanced techniques we will dig into how these can best be used to backup the SQL Server environment to provide maximum redundancy with no recurring tape costs.
