Spring Steam Weekend heading

This event is sponsored by Golden Gate Railroad Museum and the Pacific Locomotive Association as a fundraiser to support the continued restoration of historic artifacts and rail line.

Grab your friends and family and come out for a ride behind a vintage steam locomotive, Southern Pacific No. 2472, as the train travels through scenic Niles Canyon.  It's a perfect way to get away from it all.  Plus, what better way to get away from it all than from the comfort of a train?

ADDITIONAL SPRING STEAM WEEKEND EXCURSIONS

GHOST WHISTLES ALONG THE RIVER

A Historical Photo Charter of an SP excursion on the Yosmite Valley Railroad

Join us as we open a window in time. The oak studded hills along Alameda Creek in Niles Canyon will be our backdrop for this fantasy excursion along the Merced River on the Yosemite Valley Railroad.

Former Southern Pacific No. 2472 (closest thing to a Yosemite Valley ten-wheeler around) will provide the sounds, and the view from the rear platform of the restored Yosemite Valley observation car No. 330 will provide the sights.

Photo runbys will be staged for still and video photographers. This is a rare opportunity to get up close to big steam.

MOONLIGHT SPECIAL

This special run will be a great time for all as the train winds through Niles Canyon with the full moon illuminating the hillsides.  The train will depart Sunol at 7:30 p.m. for a 90-minute journey.  Passengers will be treated to complimentary coffee and hot apple cider on board the train.

SUNSET RECEPTION

Kick-off the Moonlight Special with an exclusive reception on board a vintage art-deco club-lounge car starting at 6:30 p.m.  The Sunset Reception will feature a selection of fine wines, tempting desserts and light hors d'oeuvers.  Following the reception, the train will journey through Niles Canyon.  The Sunset Reception is available to those 21 years of age or older.  View details about this vintage car here.
