Event Details

Join the Freelance Committee on May 14 from 6-8 pm for a panel discussion on the role of sponsored and content journalism in a changing industry. We'll be discussing how brands are creating their own content, and opportunities and pitfall for journalists in this field.

Panelists include:

Mark Hamrick is an award-winning, multiplatform journalist and the 104th National Press Club president. A former AP reporter, he is currently the Washington Bureau Chief at Bankrate, Inc., the Web's leading aggregator of financial rate information.

Peter Beller is director of content at Ebyline, where he oversees a community of thousands of freelance journalists and connects them with publishers. Peter freelanced extensively for The New York Times and others, was a staff writer at Forbes magazine and won a Knight-Bagehot Fellowship to Columbia University. He holds a master's in journalism and an MBA from that university.

John Hazard is the director of community at Contently, a technology company that empowers journalists and brands to connect and tell great stories. He's been a storyteller since starting on the Obit desk in 2000.
Now, he's focused on inventing new methods and tools to help journalists tell better stories.

The panel will be moderated by full-time freelance journalist and vice-chair of the Freelance Committee, Molly McCluskey.

The workshop is free for NPC members with promotional code NPCMEMBER; $10 for general admission.
