The Conrad Foundation invites you to join us and our STEM champions in celebrating the start of the 7th annual Spirit of Innovation Challenge. As part of the festivities, you will receive an exclusive first look at plans for the 2013 - 2014 program season. Additional presentations will be made by world-renowned entrepreneurs and Spirit of Innovation Challenge alumni and coaches.

This year’s kickoff party will be live streamed from Space Center Houston.  Don’t miss this opportunity to discover how the Spirit of Innovation Challenge will benefit the students and programs your represent and to network with your fellow STEM advocates.

 Speakers include:

  • Nancy Conrad, founder and chairman of the Conrad Foundation
  • Chip Yates, CEO of ePilot; world record holder, inventor electric motorcycle and battery-powered airplane
  • Madison Jones, member of Team Infinity from West Salem, Ore.; 2012 aerospace and aviation category winning team
  • Mario Chris, member of Team Xavier Falcons from Middletown, Conn.; 2013 aerospace and aviation category finalist team
  • Claude Charron, teacher at Gulliver School in Miami, Fla.; coach of two winning teams;
    2013 Nancy Conrad Innovative Teacher of the Year
  • Jen Fotherby, executive director of the Conrad Foundation

A one-of-a-kind program, the Spirit of Innovation Challenge, proves teens have the potential to create the next game-changing, commercially-viable product or service to support global sustainability and benefit humanity. The multi-phase, business and technical plan competition is free and open to students ages 13 – 18 worldwide.

Join this international competition headquartered in Houston! Each year, the Spirit of Innovation Challenge gives high school students around the world the opportunity to adapt their science and technology studies to create products or services to address global sustainability and benefit humanity. Students design products in one of four categories: aerospace and aviation; energy and environment; health and nutrition; and cyber security and technology. What's the incentive? Finalist teams receive a travel grant to present at the 2014 Innovation Summit at NASA Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston for a chance to win a $10,000 seed grant to develop their product or service.

Abstract applications accepted August 22 through October 24.
