Event Details

MAY 28, 2010
The "Kissing Statue" next to the USS Midway in San Diego's Big Bay.
Children will meet Pearl Harbor Survivors, World War II Veterans and Home Town Heroes and hear their storiesl

The May 28 pre-Memorial Day gathering will really help us raise public awareness not only about the continuing countdown to August 14 and the national commemorative effort to observe the 65th anniversary of the end of WWII, but will also help raise the profile for the great work that the AMVETS are doing to engage the community in events and activities that honor the sacrifices of our veterans and their families, and educate future generations about the importance of doing what they can to build a society worthy of the service of the men and women who are willing to lay down their lives in defense of their freedoms.

THIS is the true meaning of keeping the Spirit of '45 alive!

Stories of Service, Spirit of '45 Project

We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organized to capture and preserve the stores of WWII Veterans and home town heroes, such as "Rosie the Riviters" and introduce the value system in place at the time of the War, on the very day that Japan surrendered, and the experience of repairing the lives and countries after that War.  We want the childrent to hear our USA at that time from those who lived it.  We want them to know what our USA was like at that time, united, patriotic, and the values in place.  That value system is skidding away.  Our children need to tell their friends and families now and keep this perpetuated through future generations.

This August 14th will be a new National Day of Remembrance for America!
