It is with great enthusiasm we write to you! Spectrum Designs Foundation is approaching its 3rd year of operation and our vision of creating a sustainable business that could employ those with autism has become a reality! With your support we have expanded our business, purchased more printing equipment, and moved into a larger space. We now employ over 20 young men and women with autism and our continued growth promises more people with autism will experience meaningful employment and vocational training! Furthermore, together with The Nicholas Center for Autism, we will be assisting several of our employees with the gift of independent living in 2014. So much has been accomplished in our short existence and we look forward to all this upcoming year will bring for many of the young people with autism that we serve.
Unfortunately, there continues to be an increased number of teens and young adults who are in need of our services and WE NEED YOUR HELP! Currently, 1 out of 54 boys and 1 in 252 girls are diagnosed with autism in the United States. Autism affects over 2 million individuals in the U.S. and tens of millions worldwide. Moreover, government autism statistics suggest that prevalence rates have increased 10 to 17 percent annually in recent years. Autism is a lifelong neurological condition which affects the way one communicates, socializes and interacts with the world around them. This makes it very difficult for them to participate in the workforce and live independent lives. It is not uncommon for many young people with autism to lead lives of isolation and seclusion. It is only with your help and generosity that Spectrum Designs can continue with its mission to assist young people with disabilities to live fuller and productive lives through the world of work and meaningful employment.
We kindly ask that you join us on Thursday, March 13th, 2014 at our 3rd annual St. Patrick’s Day Event! This year we will be hosting a “Luck of the Irish Casino Night” for all to enjoy! It is sure to be a festive evening with music, open bar, grazing cocktail menu, dancing, casino gaming and great prizes to be won!
Please consider taking a sponsorship in your company or family name and show how you believe in the capabilities of individuals with special needs. Additionally, we ask that you consider our products and services for your all your personal family events and company needs. Please visit www.spectrumdesigns.org
With your support Spectrum has developed into so much more than just a small scale t-shirt printing business – We continue to flourish into a model place of hope and inspiration for our growing population of people with autism who are aging into adulthood. Thank you so much for your help and we look forward to seeing you on March 13th!
