Come spend the day exploring Mystic Seaport and going behind-the-scenes with our Exhibits team who will give a sneak peek of exhibit-related plans for the upcoming voyage of the Charles W. Morgan. The day begins with a hard-hat guided tour of the ship’s restoration, including non-public spaces. Then we’ll visit a new collaborative exhibit of artworks inspired by the project and created by sculptors, graphic designers, videographers, and illustrators at the Brooklyn-based Dalvero Academy.
We’ll end the morning with a brief presentation and discussion about plans for a groundbreaking new exhibit on whales, whaling, and whalers to open after the New England voyage in summer 2014. Lunch will be on your own. The afternoon is free time, with a chance to explore the many other formal and hands-on exhibit spaces, watch the craft and sailors’ skills demos, catch a planetarium show, or just enjoy the beautiful fall foliage and river views.
Hosts: Jan Crocker, Co-Chair NEMA Exhibits PAG and New England Representative to the Board of NAME, and Jeff Crewe, Exhibit Designer, Mystic Seaport Museum
