SPE Mid-Continent Luncheon Meeting — Thursday, November 21, 2013
11:20 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Tulsa Country Club - NOTE: This meeting will be held at the Tulsa Country Club located at 701 North Union Avenue, Tulsa, OK 74127, www.tulsacountryclub.com.
Speaker: Kevin Lawlor, Valerus Producer Services
Topic: "The Move to Liquid Rich Plays and the Impact on Production and Compression Facility Design"

Description
Unconventional gas is characterized as gas coming from shale formations, tight sand formations, coal beds and gas hydrate deposits. The industry has seen a large focus on entire drilling budgets in unconventional plays. Commodity prices favor plays that produce crude oil, condensate and high BTU gas that can be processed to recover significant amounts of natural gas liquids. Some of the ways unconventional gas is different from conventional gas include: Extremely high IP and initial decline rates, uncertain long term decline rates, potential high pressure and high temperature initial conditions, variable hydrocarbon composition, and unpredictable contaminant levels. These differences create problems with designing new facilities. This presentation will focus on problems associated with designing new well pads and compressor stations for liquid rich plays.

Speaker
Kevin Lawlor

SPE Mid-Continent Section

The Mid-Continent Section of SPE was founded on December 28, 1917. It predated, by two years, the establishment of the American Petroleum Institute (API). Today, the Mid-Continent Section has over 700 members located in Tulsa, Oklahoma USA and surrounding area. Our diverse membership comes from a mix of medium and small businesses including major oil & gas companies, independent producers, drilling contractors, well services, equipment suppliers, gas transmission, universities, government agencies, and consultants.

The Mid-Continent Section maintains a tradition as one of the most active of more than 140 SPE sections in the world. One of its more unique activities is an annual series of 9 monthly luncheons with guest speakers, started in 1965, and continued through the present for over 40 years.
