Network and socialize with local alumni, meet campus representatives, get the latest news about SJSU, and enjoy special guest presentations.

International Multimedia Education:
Wheels Up to Cuba 2012!

Professor Bob Rucker
Director, School of Journalism & Mass Communications

32 students and faculty, along with professional media guests from the San Francisco Bay Area, travelled to Havana on behalf of the College of Applied Sciences and Arts for a ten day personal interactions visit with Cuban residents. To report their findings, Journalism School multimedia students produced an interactive website and Cuba magazine which is now being sold globally on HP Mag Cloud.

More about Bob Rucker: 

Prof. Bob Rucker is a former CNN Correspondent, TV news anchor and medical reporter for NBC in Philadelphia, PA., and a national news  television feature correspondent for Newsweek in New York City . Rucker was hired as Broadcast Journalism Coordinator at SJSU in 1990, and was promoted by his colleagues to be JMC School Director in 2011. He has served numerous SJSU presidents and College of Applied Sciences & Arts deans as their representatives on major campus committees for more than 22 years. Rucker is the first African‐American Director of the JMC School in the 77 year history of the journalism, advertising and public relations degree programs founded by Dr. Dwight Bentel. JMC is recognized worldwide for excellence in media higher education. Bob Rucker was born and raised in Chicago, earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science at Northern Illinois University in 1976, and his masters degree in Journalism at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1990.
