[SparkFun] SMD Soldering with Simon
Monday, October 15, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM (EDT)
Somerville, United States
The SMD Soldering Class is SparkFun's popular course that teaches Surface Mount Device (SMD) soldering to anyone who thinks they can't possibly solder those little pins. This will be a hands-on class where the students learn techniques to help them solder surface mount components.
This class is designed for those already comfortable with operating a soldering iron who are looking to refine their technique for application to SMD components.
You'll be soldering together an Simon SMD Kit. By the end of the night, you'll have a functioning game to take home to your friends!
There is a minimum age requirement of 15 years old, and it is highly recommended that you have a strong background in soldering, as basic soldering skills will not be covered. You don't need to be an expert. If you do know your way around an iron, we may even be able to show you some advanced tips and tricks (flux, wicking, hot-air rework, etc).
Participants will build and take away a Simon SMD Kit. Artisan’s Asylum will provide all the tools, irons and solder.
