Even though Bourbon is the South’s most popular whiskey, Southern Whiskey encompasses a broad range of producers, styles and places from Bourbon to Single Malts, Kentucky to the Carolinas. In this class, Derek Brown and J.P. Fetherston will walk students through a tasting of classic and unusual whiskies encompassing the full breadth of tradition and experimentation, covering the history, production and culture of Southern whiskey. Attendees will leave with a newfound love of one of America’s great traditions (if they don't already have it) and get a preview of the new whiskey bar, Southern Efficiency, which is the culmination of Derek Brown’s trilogy of bars in Shaw alongside Mockingbird Hill and Eat the Rich..
