While the Southern Pirate Festival sees hundreds of visitors in pirate garb each year, only those who have registered as Festival Pirates are allowed to take part (as directed by The Cursed Few) in the Pirate Scenes performed for the general public throughout the day. Festival Pirates will receive a custom-made cockade to complement their attire and are invited to the Marauders' Mutiny held the night before (October 19). Festival Pirates are eligible for the special discount rate offered by Holiday Inn or they may choose to camp overnight on the Festival grounds at no charge.
A Note about Appropriate Attire:
Due to the higher level of attention that they will receive, Festival Pirates are required to dress with a much greater attention to detail than the general public. Halloween costumes and other less-than-convincing outfits, though fine for the general public, will not be permitted for offical Festival Pirates (no one has had their attire ruled out in the history of the festival, so if you know what you're doing or have a friend who can help you, you'll likely be just fine). Festival co-hosts The Cursed Few will be the sole judge of what is and is not appropriate.
To be a Festival Pirate, you MUST be registered by Thursday, October 18, 2012. Pirate tickets will not be available at the door during the event.
