Agenda

8:30 AM - 9:15 AM

Registration and Introductions (Refreshments Provided)

9:15 AM – 9:55 AM

Oxidation: A Powerful Yet Often Overlooked Degradation Process

Tracking oxidative stability is a powerful measure of product lifetime and usage. A demonstration of the methods, instrumentation, and data analysis will be revealed to exemplify the ease, and the importance of making these measurements.

10:00 AM - 10:40 AM

Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) – Preventative Maintenance, Instrument Calibration, and Control Analysis

Proper care and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation is essential and an often mandated part of analytical life. In this presentation, good laboratory practices and techniques will be reviewed to ensure proper preventative maintenance and instrument calibration.

10:40 AM -11:00 AM

Break (Refreshments Provided) Demo Room, Polymer Identification Contest Station Active

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The Lab of the Future

Learn how next generation informatics technologies, when coupled with your LIMS or SAP system, improve productivity and reduce errors  while enforcing regulatory compliance of laboratory analytical procedures.

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Lunch (Provided) Demo Room, Polymer Identification Contest Station Active

1:00 PM - 1:40 PM

Sample Preparation: Options, Procedures, and Tricks of the Trade

Correct sample preparation is often a crucial variable in the collection of accurate and precise data.  In this presentation many of the principles behind correct sample preparation will be discussed with emphasis on time saving preparation methods.

1:40 PM - 2:00 PM

Break (Refreshments Provided) Demo Room, Polymer Identification Contest Station Active.

2:00 PM - 2:40 PM

There’s More to Packaging Materials Than One Might Expect

Rarely can one instrument solve all of the problems encountered in quality control and research laboratories. The synergy between differing instrumentation will be illuminated. To present these relationships we use the study of packaging materials which are a crucial part of our daily lives.

2:45 PM - 3:30 PM

Data Analysis and Macro Programing to Improve Laboratory Productivity and Reliability

A common source of error in the reporting of laboratory data is the incorrect analysis of results, either due to improper technique or transcription errors.  This discussion demonstrates an easy to implement set of guidelines for data handling.

Instrumentation Room - Available All Day

Polymer Identification Contest: Spectrum Two

If you correctly identify the polymer by UATR then a prize will be awarded.

Software Learning Stations: Spectrum 10, UV WinLab 6, and Pyris 11

Software modules will be provided allowing for assistance in data analysis, reporting, and method development. Bring your raw data files. A second set of eyes can usually help out on tricky samples.

Spotlight with Frontier FTIR Workstation:  FTIR Microscope

Accessories on display may include DRIFT, UATR, NIRA, and/or Horizontal ATR.  If there is a specific accessory you wish to see, make sure to notify your account manager in advance.

DSC  Workstation:  Differential Scanning Calorimetry

STA and/or TGA Workstation: Thermogravimetric analysis

UV-Vis NIR Workstation

Some sampling accessories will be on display. If there is one you wish to see, make sure to notify your account manager in advance.

DMA 8000 Workstation: Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer

Sampling accessories on display

Note: We always welcome sample submissions at our workshops. Quite often we are able to analyze them the day of the meeting. In the event that we are unable to complete them during the workshop we will happily analyze them back at our laboratory and arrange for the data to be returned to you in a timely manner.
