South Hadley Chorale Annual Concert
Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM (EDT)
South Hadley, MA
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
A concert on the theme "Music of Love," featuring Mozart's Great Mass in c minor, K. 427, composed to honor his new wife, Constanze, who sang several of the soprano solos when the work was premiered in 1783. Like his Requiem, the Great Mass was never finished by Mozart, and is here performed as completed by eminent Classical scholar C. Robbins Landon. Conducted by Jonathan Harvey, the Chorale will also perform two English Renaissance madrigals by Weelkes and Morley, flirtatious pieces which show how music and love are bound together. With the South Hadley Children's Chorus, the Chorale will sing Paul Halley's United in Song. The Children's Chorus will offer their own set, including selections by Benjamin Britten, Richard Rodney Bennett, and Emma Lou Diemer.
