Dr. Louise Wicker
Dr. Louise Wicker is a Professor in the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Georgia. She teaches First Year Odyssey Seminar, Food Chemistry and graduate Proteins courses and is the coordinator of the on line Masters of Food Technology degree, a non-thesis, part–time program for working professionals.
Dr. Wicker’s talk will address the UGA Obesity Initiatives. The Obesity Initiative was launched in June 2011 to help Georgia address the growing epidemic of childhood and adult obesity. UGA harnesses diverse and extensive obesity-related research activities, instruction, and public service and outreach components to address this multi-faceted problem.
Dr. Wicker leads the Food Ingredients and Obesity team of faculty in food science, nutrition, pharmacy, environmental health science, animal and dairy science, which has the goal to facilitate the development of healthy weight foods that have great taste, are cost effective and are convenient.
