Unhinged Jaw is pleased to announce the special Los Angeles film premiere and photography exhibit for South American Cholo on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at The Line Hotel, 3515 Wilshire Blvd. in Koreatown. The movie will screen multiple times during the reception, and the photographs — shot around the movie's filming — will be exhibited in the hotel's lobby between August 14 and 22.

South American Cholo
South American Cholo, a 16-minute documentary directed by American journalist Phuong-Cac Nguyen, chronicles the influence of East Los Angeles lowrider and gang cultures in Brazil. Featured are major personalities and icons from the lowrider movement including renowned L.A.-based photographer Estevan Oriol; Brazilian ambassador of lowrider culture and local icon Antonio Carlos Batista "Alemão" Filho; Sao Paulo tattoo artist Luiz "Gordo" Teixeira; and Mariana de Paula Martins and her husband Leandro Vinicius Pimenta Cabellos, who use customized bikes through their Lado Norte club to bring hope to children living in Sao Paulo's favelas (slums).
