SOTP Speaker Series +++ Great Teams Create Greater Products with Steve Johnson of LinkedIn
Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, CA
Great ideas come from different corners. Solving murky design problems often involves a crazy cocktail of people, talent, circumstance, data, and a good chunk of courage. At Autodesk we are inviting innovative people to talk candidly about the hard problems they’ve faced and how they have succeeded. We want to extend the invitation to others in San Francisco to be part of the conversation.
Please Join Us for food, drinks and conversation at The Landmark @ One Market.
The Sum of the Parts Team at Autodesk welcomes:
Steve Johnson of LinkedIn
Steve Johnson, Vice President of User Experience, LinkedIn
As companies expand their business, and strive to build better products through stronger connections with their members, it’s important to focus on the most important element of success, team culture. Steve’s talk will focus on his observations, success and failures in building a team culture which embraces change, supports individual growth and produces results.
Steve’s career in user-centered design started as a Skills Trainer at the Pacific Autism Center for Education (PACE). By redesigning and tweaking everyday objects for children with autism, he developed a design philosophy focused on observing behaviors, mapping patterns, identifying goals and testing key assumptions. After PACE, Steve worked in interactive gaming with Electronic Arts Kids, and later moved to Adobe Systems where he led the User Experience Design Group, a team responsible for Adobe's Mobile, Consumer, and Professional product lines. Now with LinkedIn, Steve leads a multi-disciplinary team of User Experience Design (UED) professionals, made up of Web Developers, Marketing & Brand Communication Designers, Voice and Tone Specialists, Member Researchers, and Product Designers. Responsible for creating experiences across Mobile, Desktop and Web, the UED team plays an integral part in improving usability, growing member engagement, and increasing revenue across LinkedIn.
