Join us for Songs of Love & Freedom, a concert experience that will take you on musical journey through the themes of Passover. Featuring up-and-coming tenor Yoni Rose, baritone Hazzan Matthew Klein, and internationally known conductor and pianist Giovanni Reggioli, this concert will explore Passover themes of slavery, freedom, and love through classical composers like Puccini, Mozart, and Verdi, along with Jewish folk melodies and composers Lazar Weiner, Marc Lavry, and Sholom Kalib.
Experience the sublime music and poetry as we offer musical answers to Passover's deepest questions: What does it mean to be a slave? to be free? and to love? Come discover a song, an idea, or a poem that you can take home to enliven your own seder. And enjoy premiere-level music featuring some of the greatest tenor-baritone duets of the classical (and Jewish) repertoires.
Yoni Rose is currently an apprentice artist at the Santa Fe Opera. Rose recently completed his Masters degree at the Maryland Opera Studio, where he studied with Gran Wilson. As a second year member of the Opera Studio, he performed the roles of Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, and Rodolfo in La Bohème.
Giovanni Reggioli is a conductor with an impressive international career having conducted Falstaff at Opera Australia and in Caracas, Carmen, La bohème and Don Giovanni at Washington National Opera, Un Giorno di Regno at the Caramoor International Music Festival, Un Ballo in Maschera and Turandot in Quebec City, as well as I Pagliacci and Cavalleria Rusticana for PortOpera in Maine.
