Here are the details of the Magic program:
Doug Hoover, a performing member of the Magic Castle in Hollywood will be your magical entertainer for our wine event.
For those of you who choose to come and be bemused, here are a few of the highlights of Doug's performance for us:
The Only Dangerous Card Trick. Card tricks aren’t dangerous you say? Then you haven’t seen Doug’s version of the Card Impaled on Dagger. Flames, a Foot Long Red Handled Stiletto, Singed Flesh - all part of this so called “card trick” that turns heads and has front row guests squirming back into their seats to escape the heat.
The Vanishing Bird Cage. “Gone in the blink of an eye” is an old saying; showcased in one of the most visual and amazing tricks in magic: the vanish of a cage between the magician's hands without a cover of any kind. Featured by both Blackstone Senior, Junior and in the movie "The Prestige," it is stunning to both kids and adults alike. Rarely seen, even in the magic showcases of Las Vegas, The Vanishing Bird Cage is a prime feature in Doug’s show. Violating the rule in magic of never repeating a trick, the vanish is done not once, but twice, since no one can believe what they just saw with their own two eyes.
Houdini’s Thumb Tie. Houdini was famous for his escapes. Here Doug re-creates the effect that is more Solid-Thru-Solid than escape. With thumbs securely tied together by a strapping audience member, large solid rings fly on and off Doug's bound arms. Disparate items get stuck on him and finally even penetrate the helper himself. What? That’s right, a Body-Thru-Body effect that is a visual Sawing-in-Half. To finish it off, Doug teaches the audience helper to do the trick himself for the audiences entertainment.
As an encore, Doug performs his Head Twister illusion. Not since "The Exorcist" have you seen someone's head do a 360. Not once, not twice, but three full turn arounds for the audience's amusement. Something that must be seen with your own eyes to be believed, this gets the most laughs of anything seen at Hollywood's Magic Castle.
Call 858 779 4125 if you would like tickets for this event!

What recent past attendees thought:
"I thought the course was VERY INFORMATIVE AND INTERESTING! I am a wine novice, just casually enjoyed wine, and had next to no knowledge…..I felt it gave so much information and I am totally hooked, and want to keep learning! – I will definitely take it again, or the certification course. I am also going to refer a few friends."
"I really enjoyed the class. I had been looking for some sort of low pressure, fun sommelier educational class for over a year and I feel so fortunate to have come across your class. I thought things were organized and ran very well. I liked how fast paced and extremely educational it was. I am impressed with how much I learned in such a short time period. Thank you for doing a great job!"
