Save the date: 6/27/12 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. EST to join #SolarChat founder Raina Brett Russo (@EcoOutfitters), president and co-founder of EcoOutfitters.net; along with Tom Kimbis (@tomkimbis), vice president of strategy and external affairs and general counsel for the Solar Energy Industries Assocation (SEIA), and Nicholas Rinaldi, a research marketing manager at GTM Research, a Greentech Media company (@GTMresearch).

The topic will be U.S. Solar Market Overview - Expanding Solar Markets

Join us as we discuss the highlights of the newly released U.S. Solar Market Insight: Q1 2012 Report. How is 2012 stacking up compared to 2011? What are the emerging trends both nationally and on a state level? What impact will the trade case have on the industry? And much more!

Tom leads the development of long-term policies promoting solar energy and oversees expansion of SEIA’s market research efforts. He has been working in renewable energy since 2000. Before his work at SEIA, Kimbis served as executive director for The Solar Foundation, a nonprofit promoting the increased use of solar energy through education and research. From 2005-2009, he served as Director of Market Transformation for the Solar Energy Technologies Program (SETP) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). While there, he led efforts to maximize opportunities for solar energy commercialization. He also served as Acting Program Manager of SETP, managing a $170 million portfolio.

Nicholas is the research marketing manager at GTM Research. He joined GTM in July 2010 and is based in the company's Brooklyn, NY office. He is responsible for the marketing of GTM Research online, in the media and at industry events. Nicholas brings energy market expertise from Emerging Energy Research in Cambridge, MA, where he worked as a marketing specialist and solar power analyst from 2005-2010. Previous to that, he worked with IBM in a business operations capacity. Nicholas is a graduate of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY.

#SolarChat welcomes solar and renewable industry experts and consumers who are "solar curious" to discuss relevant issues like solar energy, solar PV, solar hot water, solar pool heating, and related subjects. The Twitter chat provides an opportunity to connect homeowners and qualified installation professionals, to demonstrate the affordability and environmental impact of all types of solar solutions, and to educate consumers on this emerging field. "We believe in the power of solar to change the world," says Russo. "We hope #SolarChat will further advance EcoOutfitters' goal of making solar a reality for every American home and business."

For those new to Twitter, a hashtag (#) is an easy way to find and follow people who are tweeting about a certain topic. #SolarChat has a simple mission: Curious consumers, energy experts, and installation professionals can tune into Twitter at the designated chat time to share advice and resources, weigh in on discussion topics, pose questions or concerns, and work together to advance solar awareness.

#SolarChat is held on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 2:00-3:00 p.m. EST.
