Event Details

Is energy storage the "holy grail" for solar? Save the date for the next #SolarChat, June 12th, when we will discuss that question and others about Solar Energy Storage and Emergency Preparedness.

Our focus will be on such issues as battery back-up technology, the perception of what solar can and cannot do in terms of outages, and the need to address the public's concerns about future super storms and how solar fits into this picture.

Raina Russo (@EcoOutfitters and @ChatSolar), #SolarChat's founder, will be joined by Mark Cerasuolo, senior marketing manager at OutBack Power Technologies (@OutBackPower); Jeremiah Couey, (@nycsolarcity), NYC Solar Ombudsman & Special Projects at the City University of New York; and Michael Cooney (@cpigreenenergy), Social Media and Marketing Manager for CPI Technology.

More About Our Panelists:

Mark Cerasuolo is the senior marketing manager at OutBack Power, a designer and manufacturer of balance-of-system components for renewable and other energy applications. Prior to his work with OutBack Power, he held senior marketing roles at Leviton Manufacturing, as well as with prominent consumer electronics companies such as Harman International and Bose Corporation, and was active in the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). More recently he served as marketing lead for Washington State's Department of Commerce, where he worked to accomplish the first use of a social media platform to launch a government funding initiative.

At the City University of New York (CUNY), Jeremiah Couey supports Sustainable CUNY through renewable energy and energy efficiency systems engineering, as well as researches policy and finance mechanisms for growing solar and clean technology markets. Through system design and technology development, he contributes to energy infrastructure resiliency and emergency energy optimization through integrative approaches for adopting existing technology to the emerging smart-grid and micro-grid solutions.

Mike Cooney is CPI Green Energy's Social Media and Internet Marketing Manager, and helps build awareness of the companies two products -- COMPAKsun and COMPAKwind. Both can be easily deployed to produce power or restore telecommunications following a natural disaster or used by the military for Forward Operating Base (FOB) applications. The plug-and-play solar and wind generators have a small foot-print and can be quickly deployed wherever needed.
