Event Details

Help the Western Queens Compost Initiative fabricate rodent and odor proof compost tumblers for some of the boroughs largest parks, community gardens, and greening groups. In a step by step process, instructors will show how readily available materials are sourced to construct compost tumblers out of reclaimed pickle barrels, giving the public an opportunity to learn how to build these tumblers on their own. The tumblers that will be assembled will be used for public greening projects in Western Queens.

Socrates Sculpture Park

Socrates Sculpture Park is the only site in the New York Metropolitan area specifically dedicated to providing artists with opportunities to create and exhibit large-scale sculpture and multi-media installations in a unique outdoor environment that encourages strong interaction between artists, artworks and the public. The Park's existence is based on the belief that reclamation, revitalization and creative expression are essential to the survival, humanity and improvement of our urban environment.

Founded in 1986, Socrates is celebrating its 25th year of exhibitions and programming. During this 25-year period, the Park has been host to over 900 artists facilitatiing the production and exhibition of outdoor artworks. We would like to thank all our supporters, artists, performers, teachers, and public for making Socrates Sculpture Park a very special place.

Please join us for our exhibition openings, workshops, special events, and more! We look forward to seeing you at Socrates.
