This will be the first collaborative interactive Kickass event! Be prepared to put on your creative hat, roll up your sleeves, meet some great people and have a lot of fun in the process.
This evening is all about you and using your expertise in a team to solve a business problem presented by the charity of the evening. The LOKBP is pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Fuck Cancer for our next Vancouver event - Socializing for the Social Good - April 29, 2010. What started as a t-shirt campaign has snowballed into a revolution to speak up and out against cancer. We are taking a different approach for this event - a collaborative and collective gathering of the West Coasts best and brightest to help solve a business problem facing the charity. Join us and let's take an stand against cancer.
About the Evening
Participants will be divided into unique and diverse teams, so that you have a chance to meet and collaborate with others. The charity will present the teams with a real life business problem they have encountered and the teams will then have 30 minutes to come up with their best creative solution. A representative from each team will have 2 minutes to pitch their idea to a panel of experts.
The winning team will win a great prize and the knowledge of knowing that their idea will be put to great use.

About Fuck Cancer
Fuck Cancer is changing the way cancer is perceived in our society and how cancer patients perceive themselves. We're also changing the way cancer is being treated by promoting early detection. We say let's ditch the stigma and the victim mentality; let's shift the balance of power from the cancer to the patient; let's turn 'patients' into fighters, fuckers, and survivors.
Ever since the word cancer has been around, we've been looking for a cure. So why do we keep hearing that there will be a cure in our lifetime? Where's the cure? What about us? We're not saying forget the research. We're saying let's fight this disease as effectively as possible until there's a cure. Donations will help arm people with crucial information on how to live preventatively and how to recognize the earliest signs of cancer.
We're shouting from the rooftops that cancer is preventable, and that it's over 90% survivable if caught early. People need to know this. Also, people fighting cancer need us. They need tests, treatments, and a lot of our support. They need to know that this is a battle, and that they can win it. We're going to change the way people talk about and fight cancer.
As popular as the sentiment is, we’re likely not going to find a “cure” for all cancers — at least, not in our lifetimes. But that doesn’t mean we can’t do something about it.
