A recent study* into TV viewing habits in the UK has found that a massive growth with over 76% of viewers surfing the web on their laptops, or using their mobile phones, tablets whilst consuming their favourite TV shows.

According to the report, 43 per cent of British adults have commented or discussed it with other people not in the same room as them. Women are more likely to be doing so – one in two (50 per cent) compared to 37 per cent of men, while 18-34 year olds are the most prolific commentators (68 per cent).**

Social TV hit the mainstream with social media in a big way, launching numerous products from Facebook brand pages and Twitter accounts to second screen experiences on laptops, tablets and mobile devices which drives more communication and connects with the viewers/consumers.
Networks have started to experiment in different creative ways to bring brands into the social mix. This trend will grow through 2012 for brands, bringing a socially blended experience.

Andy Eardley, Director & co-Founder, TV App Agency Ltd

Andy is co-founder of TV App Agency, which launched in 2011 to provide TV app development and app store submission, to enable brands, production houses, agencies and broadcasters to get onto connected TV. 
Andy’s involvement in TV App Agency follows 25 years experience building businesses in the technology and software sectors.  
He worked with the most of leaders in the hi-tech electronics industry including Apple, HP, IBM, as they went through explosive growth in the PC era. He then moved into the software sector as it disrupted the business of in-house bespoke software development, building a $100m, 500 people plus business covering 13 countries, with partners in over 40.
Having performed in various sales leadership, VP EMEA and CEO roles, he really understands the needs of the client and the importance of getting the technology right.
Anthony Rose, Co-Founder & CTO, Zeebox

Anthony is co-founder and CTO of zeebox, a new platform that turns live TV into a two-way, social and interactive viewing experience.  
Previously he headed up BBC iPlayer from 2007 to 2010, taking it from pre-launch to major success story.  Anthony moved to YouView in May 2010 to create an open next-gen connected TV platform with aggregated content.
Prior to this, Anthony was at Altnet and Kazaa, creating a digital music store and download application, and before that at Brilliant Digital.

Mark James, Global Business Development Manager, ACCESSMyTV

Mark has over 20 years commercial & business development experience within both corporate and start up environments, building and creating "never before tried" consumer facing services around the latest technology, converging platforms (broadcast & IP) and social networking trends. Mark launched 3 ISPs in the 1990s with Trinity Media (ic24) and ntl narrowband and broadband services responsible for the overall content, sponsorship and sales policy, managing several teams across both advertising sales, Content acquisition and product strategy. Mark was also a co-founder and Managing Director for the 10 second film festival – an online video competitor in the early days of YouTube.  Mark was also a founder at the behavioural targeting company PHORM.

Mark is the now Global Sales & Business Development Manager for ACCESSMyTV,- Find it, watch it, share it!
