Social Media Weekend 2011: May 13-15
Friday, May 13, 2011 at 6:00 PM - Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 3:00 PM (EDT)
From May 13-15 (Friday evening to Sunday afternoon), The Continuing Ed department of Columbia Journalism School (@columbiajourn) is hosting a weekend of workshops, panels and keynotes to help journalists, media professionals and others understand social media better. We expect about 200 people from around the country to attend various parts of the weekend, which will be a fun, interactive, multi-day learning experience filled with new-fangled tools and services and sprinkled with some old-fashioned networking, too.
The weekend, coordinated by Professor Sree Sreenivasan (@sree) and a group of attendees of his social-media classes (including Ada Chan @lemnada, Eliza Cooper @elizain140, Karen M. Sieminski @kmsieminski, Emily Miethner @emilymiethner, Melanie Huff @mghuff, Liz King @lizkingevents, Marny Smith @marnysmith, among others) will bring together some of the biggest names in every form of media: Social, Mobile, Local, Video, Traditional, Nonprofit and much more! The focus will be on the editorial, creative and business sides of social media.
In addition to panels and workshops, there will be a continuous group of social-media doctors offering social-media makeovers, tips and feedback in one-on-one and small-group sessions.
