Plugging in to the Power of Social Media: Strategies to Connect, Communicate and Collaborate - The emergence and adoption of social media and social networking is rapidly transforming the way we communicate. How does this impact firms in architecture, engineering and construction? How do you plug in to the power of social media, and how can it benefit you and the company? In this interactive session, attendees will learn about the importance and relevance of social media as a way to communicate and connect; the benefits of social media to brand yourself and your firm, make connections, develop your knowledge and learn more about your clients and prospects; best practices for engaging in social media, and some examples of firms that are using social media successfully.
The presentation will be made by Holly Bolton, FSMPS, CPSM, Director of Marketing at CE Solutions, a structural engineering firm in Carmel, Ind. Her 14 years of experience also include fulfilling several roles at a newspaper, marketing for a transportation engineering firm in Kansas City and directing public relations and marketing communications for an architecture and engineering firm in Indianapolis. Active in SMPS at the chapter, regional and national level, Holly is the 2011-2013 Chapter Delegate for the national Board of Directors. Holly co-authored the SMPS Foundation White Paper, “The Client’s Use of Social Media and Social Networking” and has presented around the country on marketing and business development topics. She has a bachelor of science in public relations and a creative writing minor from the University of Central Missouri.

The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) is a community of marketing and business development professionals working to secure profitable business relationships for their A/E/C companies. Through networking, business intelligence, and research, SMPS members gain a competitive advantage in positioning their firms successfully in the marketplace. SMPS offers members professional development, leadership opportunities, and marketing resources to advance their careers.
In September of 2001, a small group of A/E/C marketers met and quickly decided that an SMPS chapter in Oklahoma was desperately needed to help firms within the state join together to form stronger partnerships and also to offer training opportunities for its members. Within three months officers were elected, Articles of Incorporation were filed, and on December 11, 2001, Oklahoma was declared the 50th SMPS chapter in the nation.
