"Social Justice and Me(dia)"
To motivate and encourage students to use their experiences as citizen leaders to advocate for social justice (change) and equality on campus and throughout their perspective communities.
The Social Justice in Action Leadership Summit will achieve its mission by exposing students to the prevalence of social imbalances as they exist within society; thus creating citizen leaders who understand and acknowledge their role in limiting the perpetuation of unjust and inequitable practices towards all.
Upon concluding this institute, participants will be able to:
- Identify specific ways to promote social justice and equality on campus and within their perspective communities
- Explain the connection between citizen leadership and social justice
- Connect with a variety of educators who are similarly committed to equality
- Develop a list of steps they can take to engage the student body in promoting social justice within the university community.
