A four day Symposium on Inclusive Practices for district and/or school teams. Team members will study and learn about current inclusive practices, work together to strategize optimum inclusive educational approaches in their own schools, and return to their school settings armed with information and implementation plans to provide for the widest possible inclusion of students with disabilities in general education settings.
Districts (LEAs) may send up to two teams to the Symposium and individual charter schools may send one team. Teams may consist of 5 to 10 individuals. Each team must include a school or district administrator, general education teacher(s), and special education teacher(s). Other team members may include paraeductors and district or school site support staff.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day
Each participant will receive a Symposium Binder with all handouts and symposium materials
Out of town participants may secure accommodations at the Sleep Inn & Suites, 4601 North I-10 Service Road, Metairie, LA 70006, 504-887-5337 at a rate of $80.10 per day plus taxes (Be sure to mention The SUNS Center in order to secure this rate; rate is good from June 10th through June 16th but must register by May 10th. )
CLUs will be awarded
Each member of a team must commit to attending all 4 days of the Symposium
Each team's district or school must agree to allow two on-site follow-up visits during the 2013-2014 school year
The cost per individual for the 4 day Institute is $75. (The cost of sponsoring this event is supplemented by a grant from the CVS Charitable Trust).
