The use of SSD (Solid State Drives) in computers is becoming more and more common for the end user. Is this technology ready for use in Media and Broadcast networks?

Toshiba will present a discussion on NAND flash memory and SSD storage for broadcast use cases.

 Topics to be covered:

  • The difference between SLC, MLC, and TLC Flash Memory (Single level cell, Multi-level cell, Tri-Level cell Chips.)
  • Is price still a barrier?
  • Physical and Logical data performance comparisons between Flash Memory and HDD storage.
  • Solving the Erase/Write challenge in high performance FEC controllers.
  • Having your memory chips function even in failure mode.
  • Instant access.

The presentation will include a demonstration of a low powered Solid State play-out video server and a forward Proxy Server for the smart device world.
