Event Details

Spring is just around the corner and we're itching to get our hands in the dirt - how about you?  Join us on March 14 (TH) at 6 p.m. at the Horn Farm Center for our first 2013 community gathering and potluck and a special presentation by our Community Gardens Coordinator, Wendy Brister, on Smart Garden Planning.  We'll also share what's happening around the farm in 2013 and how you can plug in.

6:00 - 6:30:  Welcome, opening remarks, HF Center update

6:30 - 7:15:  Dinner/Social

7:15 - 7:45  Smart Garden Planning, Wendy Brister, HFC Community Gardens Coordinator

7:45 - 8:00:  Wrap up - prizes

March can be a tough eating month for locavores.  At HFC, we're learning together how to eat locally and seasonally.  Accept our challenge to bring a dish that can be assembled from ingredients you'd find here in York County in March (bring the recipe and we'll share it with our friends and online community) and you'll go home with a "thank you" gift for helping us learn more about eating locally.  Not up to that much work?  Bring any dish to share - it's all appreciated.  A $5 donation is suggested to help support programming at the Horn Farm Center.

Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education

The Horn Farm Center is a not-for-profit educational organization in Hellam Township that attempts to bring people together to directly experience sustainable agriulture and celebrate York County's agricultural heritage.  It is located on the Horn Farm, which was donated to York county in memory of David Horn by his wife and daughters.  The Horn Farm Center showcases the history, present, and future of local farming.  We are committed to building and growing healthy communities through farming and gardening opportunities and hands on educational experiences.
