Slow Food VT & Sweet Lime Cooking Studio Presents: Herby Haven
Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM (EDT)
Sunday June 24th: Herby Haven
Most people do not use fresh herbs. And I am here to tell ya, you're missing out. You don't know what to do with them you say? They are expensive and you don't end up using the entire little plastic box, or quite frankly they don't look very nice at the store where you shop. I hear you and this class is all about addressing the herb situation, Sweet Lime style. You don't have to be a Slow Food member to attend, however you get a discount if you are a member. A $5 discount to be exact! Bring a partner, a friend or come solo and figure out what the Herby Haven is all about.
This class takes place in my (Jessica Bongard's) home kitchen located in Jericho, VT. I'll be leading you in a class studded with fresh herbs and fresh new ways to use them. You'll be sorry you didn't invite them to the party sooner!
Lemon Verbena Slushies - Shaved ice, lemon juice, and fresh mint make this a frothy treat
Chilled Pea Soup with Mint Gelato - Busting with summer flavor and a savory frozen scoop of herby gelato
Herb Salad - Sounds ho-hum, yet we've got 5 herbs showcased in this substantial dish
Grilled Zucchini Rolls - Thinly sliced zucchini grilled, then filled with herby goat cheese, basil and micros
Sage Cookies - Little shortbread rounds with sage leaves sealed in place with egg whites, beautiful.
Check out the new Sweet Lime Cooking Studio Facebook page for photos of these dishes, and photos from previous classes.
