SKETCH WRITING/PERFORMING INTENSIVE WITH LA's RON WEST
This unique 4-session sketch comedy intensive simulates the work involved on a weekly topical TV show like SNL, The Daily Show or The Colbert Report. Over the week, writers pitch and create sketches, actors learn scenes quickly, and the week culminates with a performance in the Studio theater! The emphasis is on short, current event-based scenes exploring a variety of techniques like satire, parody, relationships, character, one-liners, anchor segments and maybe even some music. Register as a writer, actor or writing actor (heck, acting writers are welcome, too). In addition to the 3 evenings and one full Saturday, plan to spend time writing and running lines outside of the intensive.
You've seen Ron on Who's Line Is It, Anyway, Key and Peele, Third Rock from the Sun and Seinfeld. Behind the scenes, Ron is a veteran director/writer for The Second City and a gaggle of big time comedic musicals. Don't miss this incredible and rare opportunity to study with a master sketch director/writer/actor who has worked with the very best of the best.
NOTE: Students registered for "Writing Only" will have the same workshop time commitment and equally valuable hands-on workshop opportunities as those registered for "Writing and Performing."
