August 16 from 2-6 PM: Get a taste of Little Tokyo, one of the country's only 'Japantowns' and the original Six Taste tour.
August 30 from 2-6 PM: Take a cultural stroll of Sawtelle in West Los Angeles, also known as Little Osaka, on our debut tour! On both tours, guests can expect to learn about the rich history, culture, and local culinary scene of each neighborhood.
This tour may not be suited for a vegan or a gluten-free diet.
Guests will be led on a route of about 5-7 eateries on roughly 4 walking blocks. Each tour lasts about 4 hours.
Some Little Tokyo restaurant stops and tastings may include tea tasting at Chado Tea Room, red bean pastries (imagawayaki) at Mitsuru Café, curry pan at Yamazaki Bakery, specialty pizza at Mr. Pizza, sushi and beef tataki at Oiwake, fusion tacos and wasabi fries at Far Bar, and rainbow dango from Fugetsu Do Bakery.
Some Sawtelle restaurant stops and tastings may include sweet potato pretzel at Cafe Tomo, award-winning sausages at Seoul Sausage, traditional okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) at Gottsui, tonkatsu at Kimukatsu, Italian cuisine at Avenue Italy, and shaved ice desserts at Brian's Shaved Ice.
8/30/14 Sawtelle: The tour begins in front of Yamaguchi Bonsai Nursery (1905 Sawtelle Blvd, Los Angeles/ Missouri and Sawtelle cross streets)
The tour guide can be identified by the canvas bags with 'Six Taste' on the sides that he or she will be carrying.
There are several metered parking spaces around the Sawtelle area. Here are some underground parking lot options:
On the east side of Sawtelle, parking is available in the plaza that has the Nijiya Market (2130 Sawtelle Blvd., Los Angeles)
On the west side of Sawtelle, parking is available at the Olympic Collection (11301 W. Olympic Blvd. Los Angeles. Validation is required; however, we will be dining here at Avevnue Italy as one of the last stops on our tour. This is about 4 walking blocks from the start location.
Parking rates vary.
DROP OFF/RETURN LOCATION
Guests will be walked back to the meeting location at the end of the tour.
If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know at least 72 hours in advance. Otherwise, you will be charged half of the ticket price for alternative menu options requested. We do our best to accommodate any special needs or considerations including wheelchairs, strollers, babies or young children. Advance purchase required.
The amount of tastings on the tour is equivalent to a full meal.
The tours begin with a 15-minute introduction, so if you are running late, you will still be able to find your group at the meeting location.
In the tourism industry, it is customary to tip a standard gratuity of 15% to 20% of the retail price of the tour. If you enjoyed your time on the tour, please be sure to take care of our tour guides.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Tickets are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule, you must contact Six Taste at least 72 hours in advance. Otherwise, there are no refunds or exchanges for no-shows. Six Taste reserves the right to cancel tours due to low attendance. In this case, you will be notified and refunded the evening before the tour date.
SUGGESTED ITEMS TO BRING
Water, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, cash for any desired purchases, a camera. We highly suggest bringing a water bottle since we will be standing for most of the time on our first two stops.
