A sitar concert by Shri Sugato Nag, one of India's finest sitar players, accompanied by world-renowned tabla maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri.
Sugato Nag is quickly emerging as one of the finest sitar virtuosi of the present generation. He was initially trained in the famed Seniya Shahjahanpore gharana by Shri Anil Roy Chowdhury and the legendary sarod player Pt. Radhika Mohan Maitra. Having also been trained by emininet musicologist Shri Ajoy Sinha Roy and currently under the tutelage of Pt. Buddhadev Das Gupta, Sugato Nag has expertly blended the intracacies of several musical traditions to create a unique style for which is he is widely known for. He has performed all over India and around the world. His music is acclaimed by both critics and connoisseurs, and he was recently honored as “Artist of the Month” by Sangeet Research Academy.
